Terms of Use
These terms apply to the Macopet app for macOS and its in-app purchases, operated by Woobin Kim, an individual business in the Republic of Korea ("we"). They supplement Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple EULA"). If these terms and the Apple EULA conflict, these terms apply to the extent permitted by the Apple EULA and applicable law.
1. The service
Macopet shows a dog that lives on your Mac screen. You can pet it, give it treats and meals, and play with toys. Macopet requires a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 13 or later.
2. Account
Subscriptions and purchases require signing in with Apple or Google. Your account keeps your purchased items so you can use them after reinstalling or on another Mac. Keep your sign-in account secure; you are responsible for activity on it. You can delete your account in the app at any time (see section 7).
3. Subscription and free trial
- Macopet Monthly is an auto-renewable subscription. The price is shown in the App Store before you buy (US$6.99 per month in the United States; local prices vary).
- New subscribers get a 7-day free trial, once per Apple Account, as decided by Apple. When the trial ends, the subscription starts and is charged automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account. The subscription renews automatically each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancel anytime in the App Store: your name → Account Settings → Subscriptions → Manage. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the paid period. Deleting the app or your Macopet account does not cancel the subscription.
- While subscribed or in the trial, the dog lives on your screen with all features, and you receive free daily items: during the trial 3 treats, 3 meals and 12 play sessions per day; during a paid subscription 1 treat, 1 meal and 1 play session per day. Unused free items do not carry over to the next day. The day resets at midnight in the time zone of the Mac you first signed in on.
- When the subscription ends, the dog no longer appears and an invitation to subscribe is shown. Your settings and records are kept on your Mac.
4. Treat, meal and play packs
- Packs of 10 treats, 10 meals or 10 play sessions are consumable in-app purchases. They can be bought only while you have an active trial or subscription.
- Free daily items are used first; purchased items are used after that, oldest pack first.
- An item is used only when the dog actually starts eating, or first reacts to a toy. If the dog refuses, you cancel, or the app quits before that moment, nothing is used. Once an item is used, it is not returned even if the app quits afterwards.
- Purchased items do not expire. They stay on your account when your subscription ends, but they can be used only while you are subscribed again.
- Using items requires an internet connection. If our server cannot be reached, new items cannot be used until it is reachable again; the dog's everyday life continues.
- Items have no cash value and cannot be transferred, exchanged or refunded by us except as described in section 5.
5. Refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple according to its policies. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a pack, the unused items of that pack are removed from your balance; items already used are not counted against you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that apply to you.
6. Changes and interruptions
- We may update Macopet, change features or prices. Price changes for an existing subscription follow Apple's process, including any consent Apple requires.
- The service may be briefly unavailable for maintenance or because of issues beyond our control.
- If we ever stop offering Macopet, we will announce it in the app and on this site at least 30 days before the end date. From the announcement we will stop selling packs and new subscriptions. Until the end date, you can keep the dog on your screen and use your remaining purchased items even if your subscription has ended, at no extra charge.
- Refunds in that case are requested from Apple (see section 5). If applicable law requires a refund of unused items, we will follow it.
7. Ending your account
You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). Deleting your account permanently removes your purchased item balance; it cannot be restored or moved to a new account. We may suspend accounts that abuse purchases, refunds or our server, after giving notice where possible.
8. Acceptable use
Do not reverse engineer the app or our server to obtain items without paying, interfere with the service, or use it unlawfully.
9. Intellectual property
The app, the dog's design, motion, sounds and the Macopet name belong to us or our licensors. You receive a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app as described in the Apple EULA.
10. Disclaimer and liability
Macopet is provided for companionship and entertainment. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or incidental damages. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for our intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence. Disputes will be handled by the competent court under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
12. Changes to these terms
We will post changes on this page with a new version date and notify you in the app at least 7 days before they take effect (30 days for changes unfavorable to you).
